The AStA (General Students' Committee) is the highest representation of students at the university. As a committee of student self-administration, the AStA works independently of the university and its rectorate. The members of the AStA represent the interests of the students towards the university, the public and politics and are thus an important party in making the goals and concerns of students heard.

The student council is a body of nine people elected by the students of business chemistry. Its responsibilities include:

The Association of Düsseldorf business chemists e.V. (GDW) is a non-profit association for students of business chemistry at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. The aim of the GDW is to ensure that students gain insights into business practice and to put them in contact with potential employers. To this end, the association organises various events (including workshops, plant tours) with many cooperating companies from the chemical industry as well as the consulting sector. In addition, the association offers a platform for students and alumni to exchange experiences.
