Study and teaching

HHU has been offering a course in business chemistry since 1998, making it one of the first universities in Germany to recognize the potential for an integrative combination of business administration and chemistry and to implement it successfully.

Since the winter semester 2007/08, HHU has been offering the seven-semester bachelor's programme in business chemistry with a "Bachelor of Science" (B.Sc.) degree, which begins each year in the winter semester. The bachelor's degree is a first professional qualification, but the majority of students opt for a more advanced and in-depth master's degree.

After successful completion of the bachelor's degree, students of business chemistry can continue their studies with the three-semester consecutive master's programme in business chemistry, which starts in both the winter and summer semesters. In addition, bachelor's degree graduates in business chemistry have the opportunity to continue their studies in a related field. The B.Sc. in business chemistry also qualifies for the master's programs M.Sc. in chemistry and M.Sc. in business administration (requires the additional assignment of the module BS02: Statistical methods II) at HHU.
